Come Together for Utah's 2008 Pride Festival! |
|
This year, the Utah Pride Center holds true to the idea of a united and inclusive community in which all GLBT people and their allies are welcomed with open arms and stand up for each other’s rights. The Center dedicates itself to bringing the community together by creating common ground for real change, providing a nexus of communication between various groups, and offering events and programming that reflect our wonderfully diverse community.
Come together to put and end to discrimination and homophobia. Come together to support and protect each other. Come together for real change. We invite your families, friends, and loved ones to come together for our entire Pride weekend of celebration, June 6-8, 2008!
Utah Pride is a program of the Utah Pride Center, a nonprofit corporation founded in 1992, whose mission is to be a catalyst for personal growth, acceptance and equality for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people in Utah.
LOCATION: Utah Pride is held at the City County Building in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Main Festival Entrance is at 400 South and 200 East across the street from entrance of the City Library (but get your tickets in advance to avoid long lines). A second entrance is available on the 500 South and 200 East. View a map of the parade route and view a map of the festival grounds. Look for more "How To" information under "Do Pride."

Meshell Ndegeocello will be headlining at Utah Pride 2008 on Saturday, June 7.
“Ndegeocello’s no R&B diva. Rather, she’s a punk-jazz
musician with natural soul and a visionary songwriter on a spiritual
quest…Grade: A” - Christopher John Treacy, Boston Herald
With the release of The World Has Made Me The Man Of My Dreams, Meshell Ndegeocello releases her7th musical wonder to the world. Channeled through orchestral soundscapes andan unapologetic punk aesthetic, Meshell questions the inevitable, inconceivablebrutality of the world with an arsenal of familiar themes: faith, rage, despair, fleeting joy and nagging doubt.
This incredible singer/songwriter/bassist focuses on challenging
material by exploring the politics of race and sex, among other topics.
Born Mary Johnson in 1969, she changed her name to Ndegeocello (meaning free like a bird).
