Salt Lake City, UT: On April 2, the Utah Pride Center, a grantee of the Utah Department of Health, will begin offering free HIV testing the first and third Saturdays of every month from 11A–3P, in addition to its regularly scheduled test site on the second and forth Wednesdays from 5-7P.
“This is a monumental step not only for the Utah Pride Center, but for the community at large because there will now be an agency offering free, confidential HIV tests on weekends in the Salt Lake Valley,” said Lily Rodriguez, Utah Pride Center HIV Prevention and Education Coordinator. “Expanding our testing to accommodate a growing number of community members who use our services is a dream come true. We are proud to be here when our community needs us most.”
The Utah Pride Center HIV Prevention Team looks forward to offering testing on a soon-to-be weekly basis providing more opportunities for members of Utah’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and ally community to free and confidential testing.
The Prevention Team has made significant progress in both bettering and expanding our HIV prevention work, and hopes in the future to include free testing for other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) like Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and eventually Syphilis as rates of infection rise and risks are heightened within the LGBTQ community.
The Utah Pride Center’s HIV test site is located in its Middle Meeting Room (355 N 300 W) and is open to everyone. No appointments necessary.
