We are excited to announce that Betty Who and Steve Grand will be our 2014 Pride Festival Headliners. These two amazing singer/song writers will be helping us celebate this year's festival with live performances. Visit the Headliner's section of the Pride Festival website for more information.
We are also pleased to announce that the couples invovled in the Utah Marriage Equality case have been invited to this year's festival as our Grand Marshals. They will be officially receiving their awards at the Grand Marshal Reception on Friday, June 8th at 7PM. Laurie Wood and Kody Patridge, Moudi Sbeity and Derek Kitchen, Kate Call and Karen Archer have taken the lead in the court case against Utah’s Amendment 3 and exemplify the courage, tenacity and heart of so many LGBTQ Americans who have worked, and continue to work, for equality under the law.
Every year, a committee of volunteers, staff and community organizations work together to produce the Utah Pride Festival in June. Begun in 1983, the annual event has grown dramatically from those small and rather secretive first gatherings to a 3-day festival including national headliners, Pride Film Festival, the Pride Parade with Grand Marshall Reception, a Pride Interfaith Service, Dyke March, Transgender March, and the Interfaith March.
